The T-TESS system is designed to foster a holistic approach to teaching, addressing both the needs of the teacher and of the student together in its rubric. Built around a system of continual feedback, T-TESS provides a platform for teacher growth that is both self-directed and collaborative. The four domains focus teacher growth on evidence-based feedback and help both teachers and administrators make targeted professional development goals.
We created T-TESS Teacher Prep to deliver the following:
- High-quality training that integrates the latest technology
- Convenient access to almost any area of professional development within education
- Training modules that line up with the T-TESS domains and dimensions
T-TESS Teacher Prep is a division of the Responsive Learning family of online training companies for teachers. We’ve been doing online training for administrators and teachers since 2006. Some of the other products include the Online PDAS Teacher Orientation and Annual Teacher Review, TAGT On Demand, and GT Ignite Strategies for Common Core.
Working with expert trainers, authors and practitioners from Texas, and all over the US, we build online training resource modules uniquely designed to help teachers improve their practice.
Old Way vs New Way
Over the years, we’ve observed professional development practices that are somewhat inefficient and costly, practices that are contrary to how we know the brain works, and practices that contradict the pedogogy educators are told to use in the classroom.
|Each individual district is researching and developing training on the same topics in a vacuum.||We’ve “partnered” with experts to build their training/workshops into a reusable media. By using these trainings, school districts can provide top shelf training to their teachers. And, instead of re-creating the wheel, districts can redirect their staff to do the next best thing, such as coaching and mentoring their teachers.|
|A fairly typical approach to providing professional development to teachers is to send a staff member to a conference or workshop with the directive to provide a training based on what they learned.||Every educator now has the opportunity to receive training directly from the expert trainers, authors, researchers and practitioners.|
|Teachers are required to differentiate instruction for students, yet, professional development is not differentiated for the teacher. Teachers are still required to attend training that may or may not address their area of need.||Educators can now choose professional development opportunities that fit their unique needs.|
|Administrators, who already have overflowing responsibilities, are now required to create or identify professional development opportunities for their teachers.||Administrators no longer have to create content or worry about how to deliver the content to all of their teachers. They can now focus all of their efforts on the next best thing…coaching and mentoring.|
T-TESS Teacher Prep Makes it Easy
In professional development in education, we have observed a lot of re-creation of the wheel. Each individual district is researching and developing training on the same topics in a vacuum. In addition, principals, who already have overflowing responsibilities, are now required to create a system of ongoing support and feedback.
T-TESS Teacher Prep is designed to help school administrators provided differentiated professional learning opportunities to their teachers, and to support their teachers by leading meaningful ongoing conversations and activities to create a bridge between teacher learning and application in the classroom. Instead of tacking on one more task or role, we believe that principals need tools and support that free them to do what they do best: coaching, mentoring, application in the classroom, and providing more meaningful support.
T-TESS Teacher Prep’s proprietary training system includes built-in feedback and goal tracking between participants and administrators. Principals can focus on helping teachers apply their professional development goals in the classroom and tracking student achievement, rather than spending time creating new systems for feedback and communication.
T-TESS Teacher Prep brings the experts directly to administrators and teachers. Our course database already includes hundreds of high-quality training courses, with more being added every month. In addition, our T-TESS specific courses, such as T-TESS Prep Orientation save the time and expense of creating these required training courses over and over again. Each course includes a leader’s guide and structured principal-led conversations within the course framework.
With the roll out of the new T-TESS program, the need for a more efficient delivery of training is even more urgent than ever before. T-TESS focuses on individualized goals for each teacher, school, and district. At the heart of the new teacher appraisal system, the principal is the instructional mentor and coach.
T-TESS Teacher Prep does all the hard work of developing and aligning training content for teachers, as well as provide what principals need to coach their teacher toward applying what they are learning in the training modules. T-TESS Teacher Prep frees up principals to connect their teachers with targeted material straight from the T-TESS program. This allows principals the freedom to facilitate and direct the training according to the needs of their campus and individual teachers.
In addition, with our continually expanding library of training courses, customizing professional development according to each teacher’s individual SMART goals becomes a breeze. Teachers and administrators have hundreds of hours of high quality training, direct from the experts, at their fingertips.
